4 Style Lessons Twin Peaks Has Taught Me

Twin Peaks is obviously one of the best TV shows ever made and with the third season right around the corner, I've decided to make a teeny tiny list on the style lessons that I've learned by watching the show.

1. Apparently, red looks good on everyone. Red is an ongoing theme in Twin Peaks. All of the characters, from Josie Packard to Lucy Moran to Audrey Horne, pull of red as if it was the new black.

2. When in doubt, wear a sweater. Just like red seems to be an ongoing theme so do knitted sweaters. Whether you are a guy or a girl, a high school student or a police station receptionist, a great sweater is a wardrobe must-have.

3. A change of hairstyle and the right pair of statement glasses, can make you look like a completely different person. One second she's Laura Palmer, the next she's Maddy Ferguson.

4. A slick back man ponytail is never a good idea. I'm talking Leo Johnson chic, here. Leo was an ugly person on the inside, but, boy, did he have an ugly hairdo as well.

What do you think of the fashion in Twin Peaks? Are you excited about the upcoming season of Twin Peaks?

Book Recommendation: Dress Scandinavian

The Danish it girl Pernille Teisbæk recently debuted as an author when she published her book, 'Dress Scandinavian', in October 2016. Teisbæk used to blog on Look de Pernille and is now a creative director at Style Zoo. Sadly, Teisbæk doesn't blog anymore, but she does, however, still post outfits on her Instagram account. While Teisbæk is a fashion icon for boys and girls all over the world, she totally embodies the essence of Scandinavian style. Scandinavian style has achieved iconic status in the fashion world and in 'Dress Scandinavian', Teisbæk discusses what it is that makes Scandinavian fashion so special and how you can achieve the look.

New In: Vintage Sonia Rykiel

I recently purchased these gorgeous, vintage Sonia Rykiel shoes from the '90s. I can totally picture cashers from Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylor or some kind of department store wearing these babies back in the day. I just love them. My mum thinks they're hideous, but I think they're insanely charming and they embody history (I know, I'm such a freak). AND isn't that the beauty of personal style? Diversity is our greatest asset, you know.

Easter Brunch Outfit

Massimo Dutti coat | handmade dress | vintage belt | Alexander Wang bag

This is what I wore at a family brunch/get-together earlier today. If you haven't already been able to tell, I'm really into belts at the moment. I pretty much wear belts as often as I can get away with. I think it might have something to do with Madonna. Madonna says, Emma does.

RuPaul's Drag Race Tag. // Brooklyn Is Burning

Last friday night, I was casually scrolling through my social media feed when I came across the RuPaul's Drag Race Tag on Adventure & Anxiety which was created by Cardigan Jezebel. RuPaul's Drag Race is my favourite thing in the world and I actually named my first blog 'Hey, kitty gurl' (C'mon season 7!!). So of course I had to do this tag! Without further ado, here is my take on the RuPaul's Drag Race Tag:

It's a tie between season 6 and season 7. Those are the two seasons I've re-watched the most times. They're both sooo good because of queens like Katya, Trixie, Pearl, Miss Fame, Max, Violet, Adore, Bianca, Courtney, Darienne and Joselyn. I LOVED All Stars 2 as well!

I have one thing to say: Sashay, shanté. Shanté, shanté. Shanté, shanté, shanté! Supermodel is probably my favourite RuPaul song. It's the original, but I also love Cover Girl, Jealous of My Boogie, Sissy That Walk, If I Dream, Champion, Click Clack and Step It Up.

I honestly love all of them, but Adore Delano is a precious gem to me. I love love love her to Uranus and back. She's my baby <3

Ph: YouTube
Snaaaaaaatch gaaaammmeee! It's hilarious. Tatianna as Britney Spears, Bianca Del Rio as Judge Judy and Alaska as Mae West are some of the best and most memorable impersonations in my opinion. I really love the challenge in All Stars 2 with Katya's Krisis Kontrol and her freaking turkey as well, hahahah.

When I was in New York, Milk walked past me on 30th street at Lexington Avenue (yes, I remember the exact address, haha). I froze and I nearly had a heart attack so I just stood there and took photos of her back as if I was some kind of creepy stalker. Other than that, I'm going to DragWorld in London in August and I'm very tempted to go see some of the queens when they're in Copenhagen in June.

Raja and Violet because they both have and impeccable sense of style and really brought IT throughout their respective seasons.

Probably Raven (twice, haha) or Katya. I wanted Raven to win season 2 and I wanted Katya to win All Stars 2. When Alaska won All Stars 2, I was in shock (I do love Alaska, I just love Katya more). I was sure that my favourite Run-off-the-Mill, Russian, bisexual, transvestite hooker was going to snatch the crown.

in the great tradition of paris is burning, the library is open, reading is fundamental, rupaul's drag race, season 2, jujubee
Ph: Netflix
Can I change it to favourite read? I'm not living for the fights, but my favourite read was everything that came out of Jujubee's mouth in the 'Reading Is Fundamental' of season 2.

When Tatianna was sent home TWICE in All Stars 2. Both times were very unexpected to say the least and I was so not having it.

rupaul's drag race season 7, violet and max, violet chachki
Ph: Netflix
Max and Violet Chachki's 'conjoined queens' look. I totally think that Pearl and Trixie deserved to win that challenge, but I was very inspired by Max and Violet's look too. Everything about their look was so well-executed from makeup to wig to garments to synchronized walking.

rupaul's drag race, this will be natalie cole, natalie cole in drag race, dida ritz, lip sync for your life
Ph: Netflix
OMG – Definitely when Dida Ritz and the Princess lip synced to This Will Be!!!!! It was iconic, phenomenal and, as Latrice Royale said, it was high drag at its finest. Dida Ritz lip synced the house down. Everyone in that room was living, including Natalie Cole herself, for Dida Ritz right then and there.

And remember, if you can't love yourself how in the hell you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an amen up in here?

New In: Biker Skirt

It's friday and today I received a package from Miss Guided with this lil' number inside. I actually totally forgot about it because it took so long to get here. I'm not very happy about the quality of the skirt. It's pleather (that means faux leather, Michelle. Don't worry, I've got U girl) and that's good and all, but it does look a little... You know... Cheap. However, I LOVE the design and that it's so edgy and cool. So I'm gonna keep it. Now I'm just waiting for my knight in shining armour to come pick me up on his motorcycle.

True Blue

Acne Studios dress & Sonia Rykiel heels

So, here I am sitting on our stairs showcasing yet another outfit. I'm wearing a dress from Acne Studios and a pair of Sonia Rykiel platforms. My Sonia Rykiel platforms are like my favourite thing at the moment. You don’t have to have known me very long to know that Acne Studios is one of my favourite designers. This gorgeous number is from the ss14 collection so it’s a bit of an oldie. The thing with Acne Studios, though, is that their designs are simple and timeless. This dress has beautifully draped, asymmetrical details which makes the dress totally acceptable to wear on it’s own without any type of statement accessory. I am, however, wearing my rings from the Danish brand Line&Jo which I wear almost every single day. #scandigurl

How to Wear a Metallica T-Shirt

Vintage scarf | H&M tee | Monki skirt | Dr. Martens boots

Okay, so I guess I'm officially one of those girls who wear merch of artists they don't even listen to, but I don't mind that. It's whatever. I used to be a Metallica fan when I was a very moody 14-year-old. and when I stumbled upon this beige Metallica t-shirt in H&M, it made me feel so nostalgic. I like it because it's a quite feminine t-shirt considering it's advertising a heavy metal band. Usually Metallica t-shirts are dark with graphic images which, to me (at least now that I'm no longer 14), feels kinda extra. I like clean and minimal designs so this t-shirt is right on point.
