My Mother as a Style Icon

On sunday, it is mother's day and in light of that, I wanted to write a blog post dedicated to my sweet, loving and caring momma. In fact, this is a tribute to all of her right fashion choices from back in the day because my '80s–to–early–'90s fashion obsession probably originates from her. (That's something you didn't know, huh mum?) Above is a photo of her wearing a long black coat in Italy. Next to that, I found her old Italian travel permit. Let's not talk about her interesting choice of hairdo and just focus on the garments. I think she looks so cool in this pirate inspired banjee girl look. I totally need to wear more striped t-shirts and much larger hoop earrings.
Here's a photo of my mum in Madam Tussaud's in London. I think she was either 22 or 23 in this photo. I just love how similar her outfit in this photo is to some of the outfits I wear now. As you may or may not know, I love a bolt coloured accessory as a contrast a monochromatic outfit. I would just like to point out that her messy fringe hairdo on this photo is giving me LIFE. Not too long ago, I cut my own fringe hoping to replicate this hairstyle.
I also had to include this photo of her leaning against a slightly rusty fence because I know that it's her favourite photo of herself. It's a gorgeous summer photo taken in Sicily in 1980-something. Quite frankly, I think she could have passed as a cast member of Beverly Hills 90210. Don't you think?
Finally, I found this photo of her in an all black outfit with the ultimate accessory: a tan angelic baby (By the way, that's me if you couldn't tell). This outfit is so Bruce Willis in 'The Jackal' anno 1997. I think it's pretty obvious that my sense of style comes from my own mum. Do you get inspired by your mum's (and/or dad's) sense of style? Let me know in the comment section!

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful and stylish mammas out there ♥
