Why I Named My Blog Brooklyn Is Burning

I seriously need to reestablish my "why" and reconsider my niche because I'm totally getting lost in this blogging world. I don't like where I'm heading with my blog right now. I never intended to get brand deals, freebies or strive to become the next Zoella. I wanted a blog as a creative outlet. I wanted to showcase my style and share a piece of my personality (as cheesy as it sounds) with the internet. I was always such a Tumblr kid and as a 15-year-old I knew nothing better than to spend my evenings in my room listening to Arctic Monkeys and Lana Del Rey whilst scrolling through my Tumblr feed. I loved the reblog function dearly (especially in times of boy trouble). For Brooklyn Is Burning, I wanted an upgrated version of a Tumblr blog. I wanted my blog to represent me as a person and not me as a brand. That's why I chose to name my blog "Brooklyn Is Burning" as opposed to something industry related as "Fashion with Emma" or "Emma's Wardrobe" etc. In the name Brooklyn Is Burning is a piece of my insane love for New York City along with a chunk of me as a person (from the legendary movie Paris Is Burning). So yeah, that's why I've been taking a break from my blog. To really figure out whether this competitive blogger mindset was right for me or if I needed to reinvent my blog. So what's new?
  1. Sasha Velour won drag race and I still get, well, emotional watching her lip sync against Shea Coulée.
  2. I've ordered a heck load of drag queen t-shirts and I've been trying to film a lookbook.
  3. I've been looking for the perfect biker jacket as I lost my only one.
  4. Found out that "broflake" was a thing and it's honestly the best noun ever invented.

How did you come up with your blog name?
