Finding Your Personal Style

WEEKDAY shirt | Nasty Gal trousers | Zara oxfords

A while back, I really started noticing how much the clothes I wore affected the way I feel about myself. That feeling I would get when I wore great clothes is the reason why I love fashion and personal style so much. It's about finding your own voice and persona and expressing that through your clothes. I had a history teacher in high school who'd always so wisely say: "Only dead fish swim with the stream". That's one of my favourite quotes now. Through your visual style, you're telling a story. The clothes you wear and how you style them are a part of your personal brand.
Developing your own look is a great way to focus your voice. A look can be as crazy or as polished as you like as long as it's consistent, curated and match your personality. My personal style is heavily inspired by the '80s and the early '90s so when I go shopping for new clothes, my instinct is to go directly to a vintage store or a thrift shop. I love wearing '80s clothes because it makes me feel like I have a little piece of the '80s with me.

What's your personal style?

Back To University

Massimo Dutti coat | Zara dress | Doc Martens

I had my first two lectures of the semester today. I was very excited to get started again and get back into a routine. A lot of things, in terms of education, are falling into place for me. Last week, I wrote about my worries about the future, but now everything just seem to have fallen back into place. The thing is, I just don't know how to be chill so I freak out over the smallest things. Jeez.

Dancing in September & Worrying about the Future

H&M hat | Monki crop top | Doc Martens | vintage jacket + trousers

I think it’s safe to say that summer is pretty much gone. I’ve been dancing around to ’September’ by Earth, Wind & Fire since september 1st. I’m so excited for this upcoming season. I love everything about autumn; Halloween, horror movies, heavy rain, candles, duvets, blankets, pillows, cushions, and, most importantly, the autumnal FASHION. This season is all about brown corduroy, beigey tweeds and tartans and grey checks. I love granddad chic stuff and my wardrobe happens to be filled with just that. I love layering and I’m so excited to go look for new sweaters, boots and funky new accessories to elevate my outfits.

Entering autumn also means entering a new semester at university which is SCARY. I have such a clear vision of what I wanna do with my life and which direction I wanna take in life. It’s normal to worry about the future, I know, but sometimes you just get these days were you doubt yourself and your abilities. Like, will I even be able to make it in this industry? Is immigration going to be an issue when I want to leave home and chase my dreams in New York City? I really, really hope that it wont.
Do you ever worry about the future? What are you most excited about for autumn? Let me know in the comments!

Females Supporting Females

Unknown beret | 8th Sin Creation skirt | Sonia Rykiel heels

Can we just talk about Dua Lipa's 'New Rules'?! I know the song has been out for a while, but my obsession with it has grown more and more insane as of lately. It's the most meaningful, uplifting and powerful anthem for women and gay men I've heard in a VERY, very long time and I think that's just what we all needed. Dua Lipa literally just shut up all f-boys around the world with this song, but most importantly, she is telling us to know our own worth and teaching us to support each other.
