What's Your Favourite Scary Movie?

Alexa Chung shirt | Topshop corduroy pinafore | Mango boots

October is every blogger and horror enthusiast's favourite month. This month, it's all about Halloween, scary movies, spooky events and dressing up in party costumes. Seeing as I love horror movies, I wanted to share a few of my favourite horror movies on here. I have so many favourites that it was almost an impossible task for me to choose, but I've managed to find five movies I really wanna watch again before Halloween.

IT (2017): If you've seen the trailer, you'll already have a pretty good idea of what 'IT' is about. Basically, there's this evil, supernatural clown lurking around in the sewers and he takes the kids of small town Derry. And then there's a bunch of kids who try to figure out what his deal is and where the clown takes their siblings, friends and school buddies. Only children can see him and he can show transform himself into their biggest fears (like in Harry Potter). For me, this movie is a 10/10 just for the aesthetics alone. The movie were just was overall greatness and I highly recommend you watch it.
Pay the Ghost (2015): Like most movies starring Nicolas Cage, there's a huge problem that needs to be fixed. In this case, Nicholas Cage is looking for his son who was kidnapped my this creepy ghost-demon during a Halloween parade in New York City. 'Pay the Ghost' has supernatural phenomenons, Salem witches, Nicholas Cage and New York City and that's just one good cocktail if you ask me.

Scream (1996): Who doesn't love a classic like Scream? Although the plot is pretty much all about stabbing and escaping a masked figure, the movie is so damn good. I don't know what it is, but I'm all about the '90s high school boyfriend drama which Scream is an embodiment of.
Death Note (2017): Apparently 'Death Note' was a Japanese anime or manga series before it was made into an American movie. I've never watched the original and I don't think I want to since the fans of the original story seem to be SO upset about the American version. Anyways, I thought it was amazing. It was a different take on a horror movie and it had Nat Wolff and the best cheesy '80s love songs in it.

The Sixth Sense (1999): The Sixth Sense is a theatrical masterpiece. Bruce Willis plays the role as Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, who tries to help Cole Sears, the cutest little boy ever. Haley Joel Osment plays the role as Cole Sears and he "sees dead people" as the famous quote goes. The two develop a friendship and the movie has quite a plot twist in the end.

That's about it, my dudes. Like I said, these are just five out of a very large list of my favourite horror movies. What are some of your favourite horror films?

How to Deal with Real Life Mean Girls

Vintage varsity jacket | Intimissimi top | H&M skirt | Sonia Rykiel heels

Oh yes, real life mean girls do exist and they can be found anywhere. In fact, I think that we’ll all have to deal with mean girls at least once in our lifetimes. However, high school and college seem to be more dominated by the phenomenon than anywhere else. I, myself, have encountered many mean girls throughout my school years. In light of this, I have a few comforting words to keep in mind when one of them strikes and you’re standing face-to-face with a mean girl yourself.

So what if they don't like you?

We’re all human beings at the end of the day. Sadly, that also means that not everyone will get along. As long as you love yourself and you are surrounded by people who love you, it really doesn’t matter what the mean girls think of you. Know that their perception of you does not define you. If they don’t like you, that’s on them. At the end of the day, we’re all different and have different taste in music, fashion, as well as having different perceptions of what's “normal.” For example, some people like to wear a chic minimal coat while others prefer to rock a loud metallic leather jacket. Just because you prefer one style of a jacket over another, doesn’t mean that the other style isn’t right for somebody else. This is basically the same when it comes to people, so think of yourself as a leather jacket or a chic coat.

Know when to take action

Tolerance and positive thoughts will only get you so far when you’re dealing with cattiness. There is a difference between mean girls and bullies. If you or a fellow student are being bullied then say something. Talk to someone about it; a parent, a university professor, or a guidance counselor. There's no shame in speaking up.

Don’t let them get to you

Lastly, and most importantly, don’t let them get to you. Avoid the drama if you can and remember that life goes on. Eventually, you’ll be done with school or move on from whatever you’re doing right now and you won’t have to deal with the mean girls anymore.

Do you have any tips on how to deal with real life mean girls?

Eternal Slumber Party

Puppyteeth t-shirt | vintage bandana | Zara shoes

Dark humor, mental instability and existential crises are all terms that can be associated with Puppyteeth's art. Jaik Puppyteeth is my all time favourite artist and "comedian" (he's not actually a comedian, he's just funny AF). I find myself scrolling through his Instagram and Twitter page daily, not just for the art, but because he's probably the funniest person I follow on Twitter. He is a blessing to my social media feed AND he is also a drag fan and often collaborates with some of my faves – for example, all three of my babies, BiblegirlRubber Child and Lisa Limbaugh. I'm definitely ordering more stuff from his site ASAP.

How to Get Ready for a Party in Less than 10 Minutes

When I was 18, there was always a spontaneous party going on almost every day of the week (yes, even on school night. #sorrymomanddad). I'm pretty trained in getting ready in a very, very short amount of time and I'd even go as far as say as I master the art of getting ready in less than 10 minutes. So now that party season is on its way, I thought some of you wonderful readers might find my tips useful.

Makeup Routine

  1. I dust a bit of my powder foundation from BareMinerals on in the shade 'fairly light' N10.
  2. Then I move on to my eyebrows, I use my MAC brow gel and eyeshadow in 'concrete'.
  3. For my eyelashes I use the MAC Zoom Lash mascara which is honestly my favourite mascara of all time.
  4. I switch between MAC Russian Red, Rimmel London 107 and a liquid lipstick from NYX in the colour 'Cherry Skies' for my lips. If I don't have a lot of time, I'll go for the Rimmel lipstick as it's the easiest one to apply.
  5. For blusher I use SO MUCH of my MAC Desert Rose blush. That's my favourite makeup product. It's SO cute.
  6. To finish it all off, I use a little bit of my Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer highlighter or the NARS Albatross highlighter. I don't use any conturing as I have been pretty blessed in the bone structure department and it tends to look a little like dirt on my face.
Acne Studios dress & Sonia Rykiel heels

Outfit Combination #1: Fancy Dress & High Heels

If you're going to a bit more of a fancy event then I'd say option 1 is pretty ideal. You basically just grab a statement dress in your closet and add a pair of black heels. Acne Studios makes really good statement dresses which doesn't look too over the top. All attention goes to your dress and you don't necessarily need to worry about matching accessories to your outfit.
H&M slip dress | H&M choker | Zara boots

Outfit Combination #2: the Little Black Dress

The second option is a simple, classic little black dress. Everything goes with a black dress and you can go in any direction you want in terms of accessorizing. I'm wearing a choker with my black slip dress in the photo above along with my sparkly, silver boots from Zara. As Karl Lagerfeld once said  "One is never overdressed or underdressed with a little black dress".
Drag Queen Merch tee | Alexander McQueen jacket | Doc Martens

Outfit Combination #3: Oversized Tee & Statement Jacket

Last month, I wore my Haus of Piss t-shirt to a birthday party I was late for. Everybody was asking  me questions about my t-shirt so I guess wearing graphic merchandise t-shirts also works as a great conversation starter. Any oversized graphic t-shirt will do. Show everyone who's team you are on and what you're about by wearing your favourite merchandise as a dress and add a pair of boots and a nice jacket to it. Then you're all good to go!

...And that's it! I guess we can conclude that If I'm ever in a rush to go to a party, you'll never catch me wearing trousers. I hope you enjoyed this blog post even if it is a little bit all over the place.
